Dan Riley

Artist Bio

I love a good drawing. I’ve been drawing as long as I can remember and won my firstdrawing prize when I was in the 6th grade. Even though my professional career was in the Engineering and Computing fields I maintained an interest in art by attending monthly drawing sessions throughout my working years. After my retirement I took on art as a full time endeavor.

I paint in Watercolor, Pastel, Acrylics and Oil but even in my paintings the underlying drawing is always evident.

I attended art workshops from Jerry Yarnel, Stephen Quiller, Arnie Westerman, Gary Faigin, Greg Kreutz, Ted Nuttal, Carla O’Connor, Henry Yan, Steve Whitney.

I love associating with artists. I’m active in the local art community, particularly with the Eastside Artists Collaborative (EAC). I am a past President of the Puget Sound Group of Northwest Painters, and Eastside Association of Fine Arts (EAFA), a member of the American Portrait Society, a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society and a member of the Northwest Pastel Society.

I love teaching workshops. Current workshops include: Creative Portrait Drawing and Painting, Media based Portrait painting, Basic Figure Drawing, Art Composition and Landscape painting.
